Mo Scarpelli is a Brooklyn-based filmmaker and multimedia journalist. She uses character-driven stories to connect people, challenge notions and share perspectives on global issues.

Mo’s journalism work has been published with the BBC, The Wall Street Journal, Africa Review, The Huffington Post, Gothamist and Narrative.ly.

Her clients include nonprofits Bread for the World, charity: water, Future Fortified, Aeras, and the New York Charter School Center; she’s also directed and produced promotional films for brands such as Isaac Mizrahi, Yahoo! and Vistaprint.

Before forming Rake Films in 2012, Mo spent more than two years directing, shooting, editing and producing media for non-profit organization charity: water. Before that, she managed multimedia content and reported for The Wall Street Journal. And before that… she earned a Bachelor’s in Journalism at the University of Missouri, where she also spearheaded multimedia storytelling for traditional news outlets such as KOMU-TV 8 (Mid-Missouri’s NBC affiliate), KBIA radio (NPR affiliate) and The Columbia Missourian.

Mo’s available for new projects, collaborations, and brain-picking on new and old ways to tell character-driven stories.
